A useful fit for

A model to compare for adult trail or mountain-bike use when a full-face chinbar format and documented Spherical/Mips architecture matter. Giro lists sizes S, M and L against its 51–63 cm adult chart span; that interval is only a sizing screen and does not establish head shape or individual fit.

The main tradeoff

The exact style-027 page does not state US CPSC compliance, unlike the separately reviewed 027S sibling page, and its two M/L weight statements conflict at 800 and 810 g. It supplies no head-shape profile, numeric vent count or independent fit/performance result; do not infer certification or choose a weight from the conflicting page language.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does exact style 027 document CPSC compliance?

The style-027 page's Certifications & Weight section names CE EN 1078 but does not state CPSC. Treat the CPSC field as unknown rather than as proof of noncompliance, and check the exact unit's label. The separately reviewed 027S page carries its own CPSC statement; that wording does not transfer to style 027.

What circumference range is listed for the S/M/L version?

The exact page lists S, M and L, and Giro's adult chart spans 51–63 cm across those adjacent bands. Follow the manufacturer's measurement instructions and try on the exact full-face version; the chart is not an individual fit guarantee.

Is there one confirmed M/L weight for this exact page?

No single figure is adopted: Giro's details say 800 grams in M/L while its separate Certifications & Weight list says 810 grams for M/L. The discrepancy is preserved; neither figure is treated as an independently measured weight.

“Coalition Spherical” is not a complete enough identifier for this assessment. The Giro US directory row is style 100000001500000027, not the separately listed 027S page. I resolved the observed color route to Motion Orange; the exact page view identifies SKU GR-7201940 and size M, while the family offers S, M and L. The distinction matters because the style-027 page's certification list names CE EN 1078 but does not state CPSC. The separate 027S page has its own CPSC statement, which should not be assumed to apply to style 027. This is a source-based review only: no helmet was worn, fitted or tested.

A full-face mountain-bike format

Giro describes the Coalition as an MTB full-face helmet and places an integrated Halo System chinbar at the center of its design. The page describes Pebax in the bar and elastomeric bushings integrated into EPS. It also describes progressive layering with EPP and EPS foam. These are manufacturer descriptions of components, not an independent finding about crash protection or suitability for a particular trail, rider or discipline.

The configuration is materially different from the half-shell trail models in this library: it has a chinbar and two sets of removable cheek pads, rather than the open lower edge and simpler coverage of a half-shell. The product page says the cheek pads can be removed through a Directional Snap System. Tool-free breakaway visor bolts, a Fidlock magnetic buckle and DryCore brow pad are also listed. The page explains how these features are intended to work, but supplies no independent test of release, comfort, retention or impact performance. Someone comparing it with a half-shell should first decide whether the full-face format and its added hardware match the intended ride and fit priorities; the product name alone does not answer that question.

Keep style 027 separate from 027S

The catalog contains a close sibling that could easily be confused with this model: Coalition Spherical style 100000001500000027S. Both pages describe a full-face MTB helmet and Spherical Technology powered by Mips. But the exact style-027 page lists CE EN 1078 and does not make a US CPSC statement, while the exact 027S page separately states CPSC compliance for persons age five and older. The 027 page's copy also calls the helmet NTA-certified, without naming the standard's version or linking a report. Those are distinct evidence statements; neither the NTA description nor the sibling's CPSC wording fills the missing exact-style record. The finder therefore leaves style 027's CPSC field unknown. That is not a finding that the helmet fails a standard; it is a limit on what the captured page establishes.

For a real purchase, compare the offer's family style, color, label and instructions rather than relying on the shared Coalition name. If documented CPSC compliance is essential, this exact style-027 page is not enough to satisfy that condition. Check the actual helmet's marking and source information for the exact version. The CPSC's consumer guidance likewise emphasizes a bicycle-appropriate label and correct fit; a page or matcher result cannot inspect the physical unit.

Spherical technology, not a general performance verdict

Giro identifies Spherical Technology powered by Mips and describes a ball-and-socket liner arrangement in which the outer liner can rotate around the inner liner. The same US product page explains that Giro's goal is to manage rotational forces in certain angled impacts. This is a manufacturer explanation, not an independent measurement for this particular version or a promise about an injury outcome. The Spherical label is a useful distinction for a shopper who specifically wants that design documented, but it is not a universal safety ranking or proof that this helmet fits better than another full-face model.

The product copy also describes large front intakes, rear exhaust vents and deep internal channels. It offers no numeric vent total and no controlled cooling result. I would not translate phrases like “best-in-class” into a measured ventilation advantage. The cheek-pad choices and the claimed internal airflow path may be worth inspecting in person, but this review does not assess how they feel or perform on a ride.

Size information and a weight conflict

The product page lists S, M and L. Giro's adult bicycle chart spans 51–55 cm for S, 55–59 cm for M and 59–63 cm for L; these bands meet at shared boundaries. That chart can screen whether an exact configuration merits a try-on, but it does not describe head shape or determine which overlapping size is right. Use a level tape, follow Giro's fit instructions, and check that the full-face shell sits level with the pads and retention set correctly. No individual head was measured for this review.

There is a second evidence issue worth keeping visible: the exact page details say “800 grams in M/L,” while the separate Certifications & Weight section says “810 gr. (size M/L).” Both are manufacturer statements on the same current page, but they conflict, so neither is adopted as a single verified weight here. Neither number is treated as a laboratory measurement. The page does not provide this review with a head-shape profile, exact numeric vent count, fit result, independent cooling comparison or a report for its NTA wording.

Who should compare it, and what to verify

Keep style 027 in the comparison set if the rider is considering a full-face trail helmet, values documented Spherical/Mips construction, and wants to evaluate the listed S/M/L range in person. The strongest evidence-based reasons to compare it are its full-face Halo format and the named architecture—not an assumed CPSC statement, the unresolved 800/810 g difference or a claim of tested protection. If CPSC documentation is a hard requirement, use an exact version with a direct statement and confirm the physical label rather than transferring style 027S wording.

Before choosing, match the offer to US style 100000001500000027 and the intended color/size; the observed listing route was Motion Orange, and the reviewed page view reported SKU GR-7201940 / M. Check the actual label, the size and fit instructions, the chinbar and visor condition, and whether both removable cheek-pad sets are included. Review current recall information and the seller's return terms. A numerical chart match is only a reason to try the specific helmet, not evidence that it will fit or stay secure. No price, current stock, rank, customer rating, personal ownership or hands-on performance is used in this assessment.
